Albert Joseph Harold (Hal) Jones-Delcorde (1923-2017)
Survived by his best friend and loving wife of 68 years, Donna (Fraser), daughter Mary Ann (Bryan Wheeler), son Dr. David Jones-Delcorde (Cindi Neilson), grandchildren – Cpl. Cole Jones (Theresa Bell) Dr. Adam Jones-Delcorde, and Brooke (Phil Linden); and great-grandchildren – Casper and Zoey Jones. Harold was the only child of Albert Jones and Violet Sullivan, and stepson of Edmond Delcorde. Predeceased by brother-in-law Donald Fraser of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, USA.
Harold enlisted on April 29, 1942 and served in the Royal Canadian Engineering Corps for active wartime duty as R.C.E. “Sapper”. He received the 1939-45 Star, the France-Germany Star, the Defence Medal, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. In November 2015 Harold also received France’s Chevalier dans l’Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur. Harold will be missed by many cousins and friends.
