I love the mystery, the puzzles and the challenge of putting the pieces together. I love finding out the truth behind that "family legend".
Most of all I think it's important that we know where we came from. Not because it will necessarily change us, but because it might give us some hint as to why we are the way we are. It's true - you must be prepared for the skeleton in the closet. We will all have those relations that we might rather not have learned about. But the reality is that they are a part of our story. They are also part of the past. They do not define us today, but do provide the opportunity for contemplation. What was it like in that time? Why did things happen the way they did? What were the circumstances? What was the REAL story? And sometimes we'll never know... |
My name is Cindi Jones-Delcorde. I was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. My parents were Jean Winnifred (née Clark) and Clayton William Neilson. I am married and have three children, and four grandchildren. I am a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a mother-in-law, a grandmother, an aunt and a cousin ... there are lots and lots of cousins.
I am also a genealogist. I've been researching family histories for over 30 years - well before it was fashionable - and well before the age of the Internet. When you had to talk to people, sift through documents, and visit the library or local archive. I enjoy finding and talking to new family members, and I really enjoy bringing families together. And of course now we have genetic genealogy which has opened a whole new spectrum of research possibilities. |
